Community and
Cultural Development encompasses a range of activities that can
contribute to the strengthening of community. CCD projects provide
opportunities to connect people in the community. Katoomba
Neighbourhood Centre works in collaboration with volunteers and other
services to build on the strengths of our community. Some Current Projects (2008-2009)
Money MattersKatoomba Neighbourhood Centre is developing a set of opportunities for local residents to come together to learn and support each other around financial issues. Staff and Volunteers are training in the Money Minded financial education course and will be running groups in 2009. Workshops will cover areas such as; Understanding superannuation, How to handle your money, Budgeting, Planning a Budget Family Holiday, Understanding and using different financial services.

FREE Financial Counselling at Katoomba Neighbourhood Centre
Community members experiencing financial problems can now access free financial counseling with and experienced counselor from Credit Line Central West. Please make a booking through central intake line on 6332 3456.
This confidential and impartial counseling service is suitable if you…
- Have debt problems
- Cannot meet financial commitments
- Are spending more than you earn
- Need help sorting out family finances
- Have financial problems associated with gambling
Katoomba Neighbourhood Centre is working with Wimlah to develop a mentoring program for young people in the local area. If you are interesting in volunteering with this program please contact us for further information. Information session & interviews for volunteers commenced in September 2009.
Transition Katoomba
Transition Katoomba is a local community initiative responding to the global challenges of climate change and peak oil. KNC is auspicing this project and involved in the steering committee.
